Deenihan welcomes funding of €1.2 million for severe weather damage repairs

Jimmy Deenihan TD, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, has welcomed the confirmation from his colleague, Mr Brian Hayes, TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works, that an allocation of €1,226,920 is being made available to Kerry County Council for repair and restoration programmes arising from the recent harsh weather.

This allocation is part of a national distribution of €19.6m for coastal protection and flood defence works in counties affected by recent severe weather between 13th December 2013 and 6th January 2014.

Minister Deenihan commented: “I am pleased with this confirmation by Minister Hayes that this provision is being made to assist with the costs of damage caused by storms, flooding and tidal surges over last winter in County Kerry. The restoration and repair work will take time and I hope that it will commence as soon as possible.”
