Department of Defence Statement in light of reported UN investigation
In light of a number of media reports in recent days, the Department of Defence, through Ireland’s permanent mission to the United Nations, made contact with the UN’s OIOS.
The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) is the internal oversight body of the United Nations (UN).
The OIOS has confirmed to the Department of Defence it will not be conducting an investigation into the reported allegations. Assessment, and contact with the source, revealed that the reports were historical and already reported.
