Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Andrew Doyle, today addressed a seminar on “Growing the Irish Forest Bioeconomy”, communicating the key role that Irish forests will play in the new emerging Bioeconomy. The seminar discussed the role of Irish forests in the new Bioeconomy from a policy, producer, processer and a research and innovation perspective.

Minister Doyle said

“The Forest Sector is at the forefront of the emerging Irish Bioeconomy and, as a major contributor to climate change mitigation and biodiversity, we must continue this momentum, advancing our sector through sustainable production and the use of new wood products and building systems, as well as the rapidly emerging use of wood fibre across a range of innovative products.”

Minister Doyle concluded

“the Forest Sector will continue to make positive contributions to increased resilience, environmental sustainability, decarbonising our economy and rural employment and development.”
