Government Publishes Guerin Report

The Government has today published the Report by Mr Sean Guerin SC on a Review of the Action Taken by An Garda Síochána Pertaining to Certain Allegations Made by Sergeant Maurice McCabe.

The Government will give careful consideration to the contents of the report and it will be discussed at the Government meeting next week.

Note for Editors

Mr Guerin’s report does not use the real names of some individuals for a variety of reasons, as he explains in paragraphs 3.6 to 3.9.

The report as submitted has been subject to limited redaction, for legal reasons, on the advice of the Attorney General.

These reasons include the need to protect the personal information of individuals, information about children, the identities of suspects and the privacy of certain persons mentioned.
