Grant of up to €14,420 approved to enable the purchase of computer equipment for Ionad Pobail Mhachaire Rabhartaigh

Seán Kyne T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands announced today, Tuesday 12 March,that up to €14,420 or 80% of the cost involved, whichever is the lesser, has been approved to enable Ionad Pobail Mhachaire Rabhartaigh to purchase computer equipment.

Ionad Pobal Mhachaire Rabhartaigh is an all-Irish centre which is situated in the heartland of the Cloich Chionnaola Gaeltacht area. This centre serves the needs of the community, the Coláiste Gaeilge (Irish College) and other groups who use the centre on a regular basis e.g. youth clubs

Minister Kyne stated,

I am very happy to sanction this grant to this active committee. “The organisation is doing invaluable work in the area and having two members of the committee on Coiste Pleanála Teanga Chloich Chionnaola, means that the organisation understands the language planning process and is dedicated to, and active in, the process. I hope this funding will enable the organisation in its work in promoting the skills of the local community, both young and old, in a wide variety of subjects, as well as putting the emphasis on the language and technology working together.

This grant has been approved in accordance with the Community and Language Support Programme under act 2.14, 2.21, and 2.22 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish language which was launched in June 2018.
