Grant of up to €18,170 sanctioned by Minister of State Kyne to put a new floor in the Claregalway Community Centre

Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands announced today (Friday 9 November) that he has approved a grant of up to €18,170 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, to the Claregalway Leisure Centre to assist them in putting a new wooden floor in the community centre in Claregalway, Co.Galway.

This centre is used a lot in Claregalway and it is an important facility for schools in the area, playschools and a variety of sports clubs.  Damage was done to the floor in the centre due to dampness a number of years ago and this new floor will ensure that full use will be made of the hall again for the variety of events that are held there for the people of the area.

I am delighted to be able to approve funding for this centre,

said Minister of State Kyne.

This is an important facility for the area and especially for the schools and I hope that it will help this committee who have an active role in the language planning process in Eachréidh.

This grant has been approved in accordance with the provisions in the Community and Language Support Programme under act 2.2 of the Action Plan 2018-2022 for Irish, which was launched in June 2018.
