Grant of up to €54,120 sanctioned by Minister of State McHugh

Joe McHugh T.D., Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, has announced today, 12 September, that he has sanctioned a grant of up to €54,120 for Coiste Halla Éinne, Carraroe,  Co. Galway, to enable the Committee to appoint consultants to undertake the various elements of design work for the proposed refurbishment/rebuilding work in the hall.

The Committee intends to develop the Hall and the surrounding site as a Centre for Art and Heritage, with a particular emphasis on Irish language, culture, art, heritage and youth matters.

The grant is being sanctioned in accordance with the commitment given in relation to the Community and Language Supports Programme under Actions 2.13, 2.21, 2.22 and 5.48 of the Government's Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish Language, launched in June 2018.

Minister of State McHugh said,

I hope that this grant will help this active committee to advance the project. This will provide this strong Gaeltacht community with a wonderful facility in future and it will certainly attract visitors to the region as well.
