Grant of up to €835 approved by Minister of State Kyne for Choiste Pobail Thuar Mhic Éadaigh to purchase new maintenance equipment

The Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands, Seán Kyne, today (6 November) announced that he has approved a grant of up to €835 or 50% of the total cost, whichever is the lesser, for Coiste Pobail Thuar Mhic Éadaigh to facilitate them in buying two lawnmovers and two strimmers.

The committee said that this grant will be particularly helpful as they want to develop tourism in the area and that the grant will benefit a wide range of people, e.g. participants of the Social Housing Scheme, the people of the area and the tourists that come to visit the area.

Minister of State Kyne said:

Of course my department is constantly working to ensure that there is cohesion between local organisations, implementation of the language plans and the implementation of the Policy on Gaeltacht Education 2017-2022. It is in that context that we took the opportunity to consolidate this. I hope that this grant will be of help to the committee and that it will play an active role in the language planning process and the everyday activities and events that they undertake.

The grant is being approved in accordance with the commitment given in relation to the Community and Language Supports Programme under Action 2.22 of the Government’s Action Plan 2018-2022 for the Irish Language, launched in June 2018.
