Intreo Work and Skills Week 2021

The Department of Social Protection’s first virtual Intreo Work and Skills Week takes place this week for four days until Thursday, 22nd April 2021.

Throughout the week the Department will showcase the Intreo supports and services that are available to employers and jobseekers. Over the course of the week the Department will bring employers and jobseekers together through a number of information seminars and online recruitment events.

The different events which are being organised will provide employers, jobseekers and those interested in upskilling or reskilling with useful information to help them on a new career path or to restart their business. Participants will have the opportunity to hear presentations that will be a mix of live and pre-recorded content.

Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys commented:

This past year, we’ve all had to change how we do things, how we achieve our business goals, how we work and live.

“Technology and innovation gives the freedom to continue to do the important work that we do – bringing jobseekers and employers together – in a safe and socially distanced way.

“The approach we are adopting this year expands our reach and enables us to provide information to more employers and jobseekers than ever before.”

Minister for Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris, TD, will speak about the importance of skills in the labour force as we build for recovery.  Participants will hear about Further and Higher Education Options including Springboard, Apprenticeships and Traineeships, Intreo Education Supports and there will also be a presentation on the Accenture training assets.

Minister Harris commented:

“The world of work is changing and we have to rebuild and reimagine our economy and society as we start to get the pandemic under control and reopen. This will include how we learn, train and upskill throughout our lives.

“My aim now and that of my Department is to help make a difference in people’s lives.  Visit gov.ie/therightcourse and look at your options – we will support you in learning new skills and retraining, if that’s what you want.  It’s never too late, and I promise there is something out there for you.

“We also work to make our businesses resilient, so that we can build our recovery together, so take a look at the supports we can offer to employers as well.”

Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Damien English, TD, today delivered a keynote speech on Building a Diverse & Inclusive Workforce, Intreo Supports for Business, Business supports from Revenue, Local Enterprise, Skillnet Ireland and Supports for Upskilling and Re-skilling employees.

Minister English commented:

“The Government wants to help as many businesses as possible to survive this difficult time.

“It is important that we do so for the future jobs-led recovery that the country needs post Covid.

“The recruitment, business, training and financial supports that are showcased during the Intreo Work and Skills Week will help employers and our talented workforce to rebuild as part of a renewed and robust national and sustainable economic recovery.

“Government will continue to work to ensure that they can operate successfully and deliver products and services for the Irish and international markets.”

There will also be a number of people representing businesses, jobseekers, and apprentices speaking at events during the week at which they will talk about their experience in accessing and benefiting from various Government supports that have enabled them to get back into the workforce again.  Participants will be given useful tips on how to use www.JobsIreland.ie, the Department’s free online recruitment platform, to find and apply for jobs.

The event is free to attend, however, pre-registration is required.

Each of the four days, the events will run online from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

Participants can register for more than one session if they wish.  There is no charge; a person needs to have an internet connection with a laptop, mobile or PC to access the broadcast.

The schedule of events for the Intreo Work and Skills Week is available here with further details available on www.Eventbrite.ie.
