Local Live Performance Programming Scheme boosts events in June 2022

  • €5m has been allocated for LLPPS3 to help local authorities provide local live performance opportunities across the country
  • Events taking place in every county, with thousands of artists and crew benefitting

The LLPPS, which was first launched by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media in mid-2021, has supported hundreds of events throughout the country through the local authorities. Over 5,500 individual artists, performers and workers have benefitted from this scheme to date.

In 2021, these schemes supported thousands of individuals and businesses operating in the live events sector, and thousands of hours of employment for artists and crews staging events. In 2022, a further €5m in funding has boosted the reopening of the entertainment sector, allowing live events to take place and local talent to perform to audiences across the country.

Minister Catherine Martin said:

“I am so glad that the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme for local authorities has been such a success.  This scheme is part of a €50 million suite of supports for those working in the live entertainment sector and has provided support to so many working in the live performance sector.  The scheme has helped to reinvigorate local communities and provide a welcome boost to their economies. I look forward to seeing communities enjoy the wide range of events over the month of June”.

An exciting programme of events is being hosted in June courtesy of the LLPPS and is expected to be hugely popular across the country. This includes open air concerts, family events, circus performances, story-telling events, local festivals, and theatre, poetry and music events.

A brief flavour of the events are listed below, but check your Local Authority’s webpages and social media for further details of more events in your area.
