MCENTEE OPENS NEW OFFICES OF FORESTRY SERVICES LTD

Shane McEntee, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for forestry, today formally opened the new Kilkenny offices of forestry company, Forestry Services Ltd., at Cillin Hill Mart in Kilkenny.

Forestry Services Ltd is a private forestry company based in Cashel, Co. Tipperary which has been an active part of Ireland’s forestry and forest products sector since its establishment in 1985. The company is involved in forest establishment and management and offers a range of advisory and other services to its clients. Speaking at the opening of the new offices, Minister McEntee noted the importance of the overall forestry sector to the economy and added that “the continued development of forestry is essential to ensure that there is a critical mass of timber coming on-stream in the years ahead to meet the demands of Ireland’s valuable timber and timber products sector and the emerging wood energy sector”. Giving an overview of progress being made within the sector, he welcomed the formation of forestry producer groups throughout the country and the increase in demand for felling licences in 2011.

The Minister commented that “the opening of Forestry Services’ new Kilkenny offices is an indication of the health and potential of the forest sector in Ireland” and wished the company and its staff every success in the future.
