MCENTEE OPENS NEWLY CERTIFIED ORGANIC RESTAURANT

The Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Shane McEntee, T.D. today officially opened a new organic restaurant as part of the Slieve Aughty Three Towers Eco House and Organic Kitchen in Loughrea, Co. Galway. The establishment has been recently certified by the Irish Organic Farmers & growers Association (IOFGA).

He said “As the Minister with responsibility for organics, I congratulate Esther Zyderlaan and her daughter Merel on the initiative they have shown in the development of this enterprise. I am delighted that they have decided on the Organic route and I am sure their Organic Kitchen will be a showcase for the local organic produce.”

He added “I also want to pay tribute to the LEADER programme, which has provided invaluable financial assistance to this project.”

Regarding broader issues of importance to the organic sector and specifically with regard to the CAP negotiations which are currently taking place the Minister said he would be looking “to continue with the policies and supports available for the organic sector which have been so important for encouraging production and investment. My aim will be to ensure that the sector can realise the opportunities for expansion and meet consumer demand”.

Irish Organic Farmers & Grower Association (IOFGA) have recently certified the restaurant of the newly built Slieve Aughty Three Towers Eco House and Organic Kitchen in East Galway owned by, Esther Zyderlaan and her daughter Merel. The Eco House and Organic Kitchen is part of the Slieve Aughty horse riding and activity centre, which has been in operation by the same family since the early 1980s.

The increasing demand for eco-friendly food and accommodation has resulted in the newest aspect of the business, namely the Three Towers Eco House and organic kitchen.
