McEntee welcomes McManus sponsorship of Greyhound Racing

Shane McEntee TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for the greyhound industry welcomed the announcement of the very generous sponsorship to be provided by JP & Noreen McManus of the "Con & Annie Kirby puppy event" to be run at Limerick greyhound track in March 2013, in memory of Noreen’s late parents.

Minister McEntee acknowledged the long association of JP and Noreen with greyhound racing, a sport of which they are great supporters and in which they are actively involved.  The Minister recognised the track record of the McManus family in providing generous financial support for a wide range of initiatives aimed at growing and promoting the Midwest.

The Minister noted "this event will have an impact across the greyhound racing industry nationwide and in the UK with qualifying rounds to be held in each of the 19 tracks in Ireland as well as 5 in the UK.  The prize money on offer, €149,500, is wonderful and will be sure to attract the best talent around."  Minister McEntee congratulated JP & Noreen McManus "on this most fitting tribute to the late Con & Annie Kirby".
