Minister Fitzgerald honours those who died in Oslo’s twin massacres last July

Frances Fitzgerald TD., Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has laid flowers at the door of the Cathedral in Oslo, in memory of

those who died in the attacks in Oslo and Utoya Island on July 22

2011; of this number many were young people attending a Youth Camp on Utoya Island. Minister Fitzgerald is the first Irish Minister to visit Oslo since the massacres.

She was accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador to Ireland: Gerald F. Ansbro and they were met by Elisabeth Thorsen: Canon of the Cathedral. The Cathedral hosted a national ceremony of remembrance of those who died in the massacres, in August of last year.

Minister Fitzgerald is in Oslo to address the OECD High-level conference on Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
