Minister McGinley TD welcomes new BIM 2013-2017 strategy and over €2.5 million in new investment this year for Donegal seafood processing companies

Wednesday 17th July 2013 Dinny McGinley TD, Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht welcomed the award of over €735,000 in grant aid to seven seafood processing companies in Donegal under the 2013 Seafood Processing Business Invesment Scheme. Taken in conjunction with private sector investment, the total investment will be over €2.5 million in 2013.

Welcoming the news by his colleague, Simon Coveney, T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Minister McGinley added that this announcment which sets targets for the overall creation of 1,200 additional jobs, aligned to a total sales value of €1 billion of which exports will form €650m by the end of 2017 was “significantly good news for local business in Donegal which has a well known reputation for seafood processing and this grant aid would ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of such an industry into the future while also ensuring the retention of jobs”.
