Minister of State McEntee opens the North Tipperary Agricultural Show, Nenagh, 1st August 2011

Shane McEntee TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine today officially opened the North Tipperary Agricultural show in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Speaking at the opening event Minister McEntee highlighted the important role that Agricultural shows can play within communities, saying "the show is a highlight of the year for many people and a chance to see a huge range of the best local produce. It is an important social and community occasion which is an integral part of life in Tipperary and a good value family day out. A range of attractions are available on the day including competitions in horticulture, equines, arts and crafts and home industries. There is a wide range of entertainment also laid on to cater for all tastes". The Minister acknowledged the quality of all livestock at the show, and complimented pedigree breeders who are dedicated to producing the highest quality animals, stating "breeders ensure that commercial farmers have access to the best animals suitable for high value EU markets and have made great strides in cattle breeding through their work with the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation in the last number of years".

Minister McEntee welcomed the generous local sponsorship by Arrabawn Co-op. He paid tribute to the organising committee for their long standing commitment and dedication to the vital community event. He concluded by wishing all exhibitors and visitors a great day out.
