Wednesday 18 September 2013: Dinny McGinley T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, today announced that the contract to provide an air service to Oileáin Árann for the period from 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2014 has been awarded to Aer Arann Islands, the company currently providing the service. The value of the contract is €1,574,028, which is being awarded in accordance with European Union rules regarding Public Service Obligations. Under the contract, Aer Arann Islands will provide five daily return flights from Monday to Friday and four return flights on Saturday and Sunday.

"The air service forms part of the comprehensive transport services being provided to Oileáin Árann with financial assistance from my Department. I'm pleased that my Department has been able to agree the contract for this air service for a year," the Minister of State said.
