Minister Rabbitte announces Consultation on the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive
The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte, T.D. invites members of the public and interested parties to send written submissions for consideration by the Department in response to the publication of a consultation paper on the implementation of the Energy Efficiency Directive in Ireland.
"I would encourage anyone with an interest in energy efficiency, particularly residential customers and businesses to carefully read the consultation and take the opportunity to input their views on this important issue. The knock on impacts of improving the energy efficiency of all areas of our economy are reduced energy prices, increased competitiveness, and supporting more secure, sustainable jobs nationally.
“The Energy Efficiency Directive will lead to a stable regulatory framework that will provide certainty and encourage industry to invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
“The role of energy suppliers will be crucial to delivering our ambitious national efficiency targets, which are challenging but I am confident that our energy service companies will meet that challenge.”
The consultation will run for four weeks from Thursday 17th October to Wednesday 13th November 2013 and is available at: http://www.dcenr.gov.ie/Energy/Energy+Efficiency+and+Affordability+Division/EED+Consultations.htm
All submissions received will be published on the Department’s website following the conclusion of the consultation period.
Submissions may be sent by email to energy.efficiency@dcenr.gov.ie or by post to:
