The Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Alan Shatter, T.D. hasappointed a Chairman and ten ordinary members to the Board of the Private Security Authority (PSA) to replace the outgoing Board whose term of office had expired. The appointments were made in accordance with the provisions for membership of the PSA as set out in Section 7 of the Private Security Services Act 2004 (as amended).
Announcing the new Board, Minister Shatter said: “I am delighted to
announce the new Board of the Private Security Authority. The Authority
since its establishment in 2005 has made significant progress in regulating
the private security industry. Clients of private security service
providers continue to be assured that the industry is working to the
highest standards possible. I believe that the Authority has achieved
particular success in the manner in which it carries out its functions and
because of this, confidence in the industry has greatly improved.
I am confident that the new Board members will all bring their considerable
skills and expertise to the work of the Private Security Authority and that
their presence on the Board will ensure that it continues to operate as
efficiently and effectively as it has always done.
The Minister also thanked the outgoing Board for their dedicated service
and particularly its Chairperson, Mr. Ronan King. The Minister concluded “

contribution to the development of the Private Security Authority. I
especially want to thank the outgoing Chairperson Mr. Ronan King, for his
commitment to the work of the Board. All of the members have helped to
ensure that the Private Security Authority is proving to be an effective
and respected body that is well placed to continue its good work”.
The Chairman of the Board is Mr. Noel Lappin – a professional executive
with over forty years experience including twenty years at senior
management level. The ten other members appointed by the Minister to the
