Minister Bruton Announces Appointments to the Boards of An Post and SEAI

The Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Mr Richard Bruton TD, has today (Thursday the 8th of November) announced the appointment of two new directors to the Board of An Post – Mr. Peter Coyne and Ms. Mary O’Donovan and two new directors to the Board of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) – Ms. Léan Doody and Dr. Werner Kruckow.

Speaking on the An Post appointments, Minister Bruton said

An Post have put in place a plan that will put them on a sustainable trajectory for the years ahead. The appointment of Mr Coyne and Ms O’Donovan will provide valuable experience and skills to the Board as it continues to implement its strategic plan and transformation agenda.

On the appointments to the Board of SEAI, Minister Bruton said

I believe that the range and breadth of experience of Ms. Doody and Dr. Kruckow will strengthen the expertise in the Board and further equip the SEAI in its mission to promote and assist the development of sustainable energy across all sectors of the economy and assist the State in fulfilling its ambition to strive towards a greener economy.

All appointments are for a period of five years effective from 31 October 2018.

The four appointees were selected following two competitive selection processes run by the Public Appointments Service (PAS) on stateboards.ie.

Peter Coyne
Peter Coyne is non-Executive Director of Ark Life Assurance Co. Ltd., Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Risk Committee. He was previously non-executive director of Trinity Biotech plc and was also interim CEO for the Ireland Region of Vision Consulting Ltd.

Mary O’Donovan
Mary O’Donovan is an independent consultant in the telecommunications, utility and financial services sector at MOD Consulting . She was previously Managing Director/Executive Director of Loyalty Build and Chief Operating Officer of O2 Communications.

Short biographies of new appointees to the Board of SEAI

Léan Doody
Léan Doody is Smart Cities and Digital Property Leader for Europe at Arup. She has extensive experience on a wide range of projects including digital strategy and policy work for the Danish and Singaporean governments, the Greater London Authority, Dublin City Council, Sydney, Canberra and major master planning projects in Madrid, Singapore and Dubai.

Werner Kruckow
Werner Kruckow was project director for Siemens Corporate Development. He was also project director of “The Crystal” building in London, managing its construction and fit out. He is a former CEO of Siemens Limited Ireland.
