Minister Daly today (Wednesday) addressed the opening of the Annual Conference of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) in Limerick. The theme of the conference is Living with Uncertainty.

This is the 47th annual conference of the PSI, which is the professional body for psychology in the Republic of Ireland. Established in 1970, the Society now has nearly 3,000 members. Since its creation, the members of PSI have helped shape and develop psychology as a science in Ireland, and their work and commitment has given Irish psychology a prominent voice and standing on the world stage

Minister Daly told the conference that “the Government continues to give the highest priority to developing policies and services that promote positive mental health at all levels. This is more relevant than ever in a rapidly changing world, particularly in the context of allaying fears and encouraging resilience among children and young adults. In my role as Minister, I have a particular interest in developing more effective prevention and early intervention strategies around mental health. I intend, wherever possible, to strengthen the strong partnership links that already exist between the statutory and non-statutory sectors for this key care programme. This includes encouraging the high academic and professional standards promoted by The Psychological Society of Ireland."
