Minister Daly launches the second National Positive Ageing Strategy Stakeholder Forum

This morning (Wednesday) Minister for Mental Health and Older People Jim Daly launched the second National Positive Ageing Strategy Stakeholder Forum.

On foot of the successful Stakeholder Forum held last year, the Department of Health held the second annual forum. On the day the Department aimed to identify, through the engagement of stakeholder groups, local Government and state agencies, the key priorities of older people for the Government over the coming year. Minister Daly said

As Minister for Mental Health & Older People I have had the privilege over the last year of visiting and engaging with many of the programmes and initiatives that support older people in our communities. I have been struck by the variety of programmes and the endeavours of groups across the country to improve the experience of older people in their communities.

I'm very happy to launch this Forum today, and that my Department is facilitating the continued engagement of each of the groups present.  It gives civic society an opportunity to engage with and shape policy implementation for older people.

Minister Daly thanked everybody for attending the forum and asked them to embrace the opportunities which were identified on the day.
