Minister Donohoe welcomes appointment to the Board of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA)

The Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe T.D., today announced the appointment of Ms. Rachael Ingle to the Board of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) for a five-year term effective from 22 December 2019.

Commenting on the appointment, Minister Donohoe said:

As well as her significant fund management experience gained through her work in the Retirement and Investment sector Rachael Ingle will also bring an understanding of the world of insurance and claims management to the NTMA’s Board. I wish her every success on her appointment.

NTMA Chairperson, Maeve Carton, added:

I welcome the announcement by the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform today of the appointment of Rachael Ingle to the NTMA Board.  Rachael is well placed to make a valuable contribution to the Agency over the term of her appointment.

Note for Editors:

Rachael Ingle is an actuary by profession and Managing Director of the Retirement & Investment business of Aon in Ireland.  In this capacity, she has been very involved in the development of new investment products in recent years with the support of the Global Asset Engine team of Aon, resulting in more choice and operational efficiency in investing on behalf of Aon’s Irish clients. She was elected Chairperson of the Irish Association of Pension Funds in 2013 in recognition of her ability to drive change in the retirement and investment management arena in Ireland.

In addition, as a Board Director of Aon's Irish Holding Company, she will bring an understanding of the world of insurance and claims management to NTMA’s Board.

Background to the appointment

This appointment follows a competition held by the Public Appointments Service (PAS) earlier this year to fill the vacancy which resulted from the departure of Willie Walsh at the end of 2018. That competition resulted in a list of candidates from which other vacancies arising within a 12 month period could also be filled. Ms. Ingle will fill the vacancy arising due to the fact that Mary Walsh will stand down from the Board at the end of her five year term in December 2019.
