Minister for Education and Skills announces €10m Infrastructure Maintenance Fund grant for Institutes of Technology

The Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan, T.D., today announced details of funding of €10m that is being made available to the country’s 14 Institutes of Technology. This funding will permit the Institutes to discharge costs already incurred on a range of small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities and / or upgrading equipment.

Under the Scheme, funding will be allocated to the Institutes of Technology on the basis of their enrolments. There are three enrolment based bands and the funding to be allocated to each Institute is set out in the table below.

The funding will be transmitted to the Institutes via the Higher Education Authority.

“I am delighted to announce the allocation of this funding to the Institutes of Technology which has been allotted for the purpose of maintaining and developing facilities and equipment right across the Institute of Technology sector. From my contact with the Institutes, I am very much aware that this funding has proved invaluable to them in the past as they strive to maintain and improve their existing infrastructure. This funding is firm evidence of my Department’s continued commitment to funding improvement and upgrading works in our country’s educational institutions for the benefit of all students.”
