As part of the latest round of contacts with the UK and other EU partners regarding Brexit, Minister Charlie Flanagan is to host bilateral talks at Iveagh House today (Thursday) with the recently appointed UK Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, David Davis MP and the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, Robin Walker MP.

Minister Flanagan will be joined by the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald TD, and the Minister of State for European Affairs, Data Protection and the EU Single Digital Market, Dara Murphy TD.

Following on from an initial telephone conversation Minister Flanagan had with Secretary of State Davis on 25 July, the ministers will discuss the challenges posed by the UK electorate’s decision to leave the EU. The UK ministers will be given the opportunity to outline the state of play with their preparations for an EU exit process, while Minister Flanagan, the Tánaiste and Minister Murphy will emphasise key Irish interests such as Northern Ireland, the border arrangements, the Common Travel area and the importance of economic, trade and people-to-people relations.
