Minister Griffin congratulates Jordan Lee on success at the World Para Athletics European Championships

The Minister of State with responsibility for Sport, Brendan Griffin, today congratulated Irish athlete Jordan Lee for his bronze medal success at the World Para Athletics European Championships in Berlin.

The 18 year old IT Tralee student finished third in the Men's High Jump T47 this afternoon. Ireland has secured five gold medals and two bronze at the championships so far this week.

Minister Griffin said:

I am delighted to congratulate Jordan Lee for securing a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics European championships in Berlin. Ireland’s Paralympics sports men and women are an inspiration to us all and I know how determined Jordan is to continue his progress with the Paralympics in Tokyo 2020 in his sights. He has already shown such character by making his mark in basketball so I’m sure all of his family and friends are not one bit surprised by his determination to be amongst the best high jumpers in the world. No doubt all of his club-mates and coaches at Killarney Valley AC are extremely proud of Jordan’s achievements.
