Minister Humphreys congratulates Irish architects on appointment as curators of 16th International Architecture Biennale Exhibition in Venice

The Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD, today congratulated Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects on their appointment as curators of the 16th International Venice Architecture Biennale in 2018. The Venice Biennale has, for over a century, been one of the most prestigious cultural organisations in the world and the Architecture Biennale in Venice is regarded as one of the most important platforms to showcase talent worldwide

Making the announcement, Minister Humphreys said:
"Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara have a truly significant reputation and their selection as curators for the 2018 Venice Biennale reflects how highly they are regarded globally. It is a huge honour for Ireland that the 2018 Venice Biennale will be curated by such highly regarded Irish architects, who previously won the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2012 for their presentation of their design of the UTEC University campus in Lima, Peru."
