Minister Madigan congratulates Irish filmmakers recognised at Oscars 2019
The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan, has today congratulated Irish film production company, Element Pictures, which co-produced The Favourite for which Olivia Colman won The Best Actress Award at the 91st Academy Awards.
The Favourite was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Cinematography for Dubliner, Robbie Ryan.
Louise Bagnall’s Late Afternoon (a production of Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon) lost out on Best Animated Short to Disney’s Pixar’s Bao and Vincent Lambe’s Detainment also lost out to Skin in the Best Live Action Short category.

Irish presence at Oscars 2019 is a testament to the talent in our film industry which richly deserves recognition on the world stage.
