Minister Madigan launches Dublin Fleadh

The Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD, has today launched the Dublin County Fleadh. The Fleadh will have over 800 entries of solo and group participants; well over 1000 participants plus their families and supporters will join in the various events which will take place in Dublin.

Speaking at the event Minister Madigan said:

“This year 36 County and Provincial Fleadhanna Ceoil will take place throughout the island of Ireland, with an additional 7 Fleadhanna in Britain and North America. At the core of these Fleadhanna are the 180 plus weekend competitions in traditional Irish music, song, dance, Comhrá Gaeilge and storytelling.

Dublin County Fleadh is quite unique amongst Fleadhanna.  It takes place in such a large urban area yet it is still able to build pride in the community. It honours talent and achievement. The 2018 Dublin County Fleadh is an event that we all look forward to – an event in which community and participation is the essence.”
