Minister Madigan today launched the ‘Courage’ programme, a series of live concerts interspersed with musical footage from the archives of Other Voices, to run over a four week period from Thursday, 23rd April.  The event is being run in association with Intel and will air on Other Voices’ YouTube channel, Facebook Live and on RTE.ie. The programme will also be televised on RTÉ 2 from 7th May every Thursday at 11.30pm.

This forms part of the Government’s COVID-19 response to support wellbeing through a range of initiatives including cultural content.

The online programme will feature live performances each Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm, starting from 23rd April, for a period of 4 weeks (details below). Live performances will take place in Whelan’s and the National Gallery of Ireland.  On the nights between each Thursday and Tuesday, Other Voices will be showcasing material from archival performances featuring such artists as Hozier, Lisa Hannigan and Sinéad O’Connor, also commencing at 8pm through the media mentioned above. All live performances will comply with public health guidance.

Speaking today, Minister Madigan said:

We know culture plays a hugely positive role in our collective wellbeing. The performances that will take place during the Courage programme are sure to raise plenty of spirits and can be enjoyed as people stay at home. It is in addition to the supports that the Government is already providing to artists and those working in the arts and cultural sectors.
