Minister Madigan pays tribute to Liam Óg Ó Floinn

Expressing her sympathy on learning of the death of Liam Óg Ó Floinn, Minister Josepha Madigan TD said

‘Liam Óg was one of the foremost exponents of Uilleann Piping. His skill and mastery of piping was exceptional. From his early years, learning from the late Séamus Ennis, and Leo Rowsome, in the tradition of UIlleann Piping tuition of master/pupil, and his subsequent friendship with Willie Clancy, all contributed to ensuring that Liam’s fullest potential as an exceptional musician and piper was fully realised.
His ability to transmit the music from the performance, to the audience was symbiotic and all of us lucky enough to attend live performances will treasure the memories of those occasions. Indeed, irrespective of in what country Liam Óg was performing the music of the Uilleann Pipes, played so melodically by Liam Óg, he transported the audiences to Ireland, and his passing leaves both the Irish at home and abroad all the poorer. Is boichte Éire dá éagmais.

Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a anam.
