Minister Martin announces the re-appointment of Dr. Sandra Collins as Director of the National Library of Ireland

The Minister for Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht, Catherine Martin T.D. is pleased to confirm that Dr. Sandra Collins has been re-appointed as Director of the National Library of Ireland.

As Director, Dr. Collins has overseen a number of very significant acquisitions relating to WB Yeats, Band Aid, JP Donleavy and Neil Jordan, the completion of Phase 1 of a major capital redevelopment of the historic main building, significant digitisation projects including the Decade of Commemorations archives, the opening in 2018 of the Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again exhibition in the new Bank of Ireland Culture and Heritage Centre and the opening of the new Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) at Newman House in partnership with UCD.

 

Welcoming Dr. Collins’ re-appointment as Director of the National Library of Ireland, Minister Martin stated:

Dr. Sandra Collins has led the National Library of Ireland with distinction over the past five years, I am delighted to confirm her re-appointment for a further five years.  Dr. Collins has overseen significant milestones including major exhibitions on the life and works of Seamus Heaney and is leading on the major capital redevelopment work that is helping to ensure that the National Library of Ireland remains one of our pre-eminent National Cultural Institutions.
