Minister Naughten Launches National Reuse Month from October 1st to 31st 2018

Today (Monday October 1st) marks the start of Re-Use Month and the Minister for Environment Denis Naughten and the Community Reuse Network Ireland (CRNI) are encouraging householders and businesses to actively Re-Use more.

Community Re-Use Network Ireland is the all-Ireland representative body for community based reuse, recycling and waste prevention organisations.

It is estimated that Irish households reuse less than 5% of the amount of waste discarded every year.

Launching Re-Use month in Roscommon Minister Denis Naughten stated:

Ordinary everyday actions within our families and communities can be acts of reuse. Passing on clothes, borrowing books from libraries, using keep cups, repairing rather than replacing - this is all reuse. National Reuse Month is about highlighting the benefit of reusing, recycling and repairing for our environment, our communities and our families.

This month CRNI is hosting Reuse Month events, seminars and information points throughout every region and county to provide people with the skills, tools and knowledge on how to reuse more.
