Minister Corcoran Kennedy opened the 3rd annual GAA Health and Wellbeing Conference in Croke Park today welcoming over 300 delegates from the 32 counties of Ireland. 

Minister Corcoran Kennedy acknowledged the contribution of the GAA in achieving the goals of Healthy Ireland, in particular, improving the health and wellbeing of communities across Ireland.
The Minister said 'the health challenges facing our population are significant and to have a national impact we need engagement across all of society to promote health and wellbeing’
The Minister described the work of the GAA Healthy Club initiative and the County Health and Wellbeing Committees as truly inspirational in the context of the sporting world and said that ‘as a national governing body, the GAA is exemplary in its commitment to promote health and wellbeing’
Minister Corcoran Kennedy also acknowledged the work of the 60 clubs involved in Phase 2 of the Healthy Club initiative and said that 'the work at club level is only possible by the contribution of volunteers giving their time freely to the project and community’
The Minister wished the delegates a very successful event.
