Minister of State Kyne reminds stakeholders of the availability of the Consultation Paper on Island Policy on the web site of the Department of Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht

Sean Kyne TD, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands has reminded stakeholders that the Islands Policy Discussion Paper is available on the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht’s website.

The paper details the range of existing policies designed to support island communities, as well as a framework for a comprehensive consultation process to take place over the coming months.

Speaking today, the Minister of State said,

I remind island communities that the Discussion Paper is available to the public. It has been drafted in partnership with all of the relevant Government Departments to inform stakeholders of the many policies and schemes already in place to support island communities.  It is now our aim to ascertain what else needs to be done, or what changes need to be made to ensure the island communities are supported and developed.

The consultation process will commence very shortly and details of the schedule of island visits will be available on the Department’s website and advertised locally.
