Minister Ryan Announces Appointment to the Board of ESB

Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan TD, has today (11 November 2020) announced the appointment of Mr Terence O’Rourke as the new Chairperson Designate of the Board of ESB.

Welcoming the appointment, Minister Ryan noted the significant leadership experience Mr O’Rourke will bring to the role.

The Minister also thanked the outgoing Chairperson of ESB, Ms Ellvena Graham, whose term ended in July. Under Ms Graham’s leadership ESB played a significant role in leading on electric vehicle infrastructure, SMART meters, and the decarbonisation of the electricity sector.

Minister Ryan said,

I am delighted to appoint Mr O’Rourke as Chairperson of ESB. The Programme for Government commits us to reducing our overall greenhouse gas emissions by more than half by the end of this decade and ESB will play an important role in helping the country reach that goal. I look forward to working with Mr. O’Rourke as the ESB continues to take a leadership role in addressing the decarbonisation challenge and meeting our climate targets.

Mr O’Rourke’s appointment is for a period of five years.
