The Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton, together with Minister of State for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O’Connor and the Minister of State for Training, Skills, Innovation, Research and Development John Halligan, congratulated students, parents and teachers following the release of the Junior Certificate/Cycle Examination results for 2018.

62,562 students will receive their results today.

Minister Bruton said,

I want to congratulate all those receiving their Junior Certificate/Cycle results today. The completion of your Junior Certificate/Cycle is an important milestone and lays the foundations for the next phase of your education. You are progressing through our education system at an exciting time, a time where there are more possibilities and options than ever before and I want to wish you every success in your studies.

Minister Halligan congratulated the students and acknowledged the role that parents and teachers play in supporting students.

Minister Mitchell O’Connor congratulated the students and thanked the State Examinations Commission on its operation of the exams which is a significant undertaking and hopes that the students enjoy their celebrations safely with their families and friends.

The new Junior Cycle puts the student at the centre of the learning process, with a greater emphasis on group work, creativity, project-based learning and non-academic performance and achievements. The students receiving their results today will receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement Award (JCPA) later in the year which will not only reflect achievement in the State Examinations but will also recognise their achievement in Classroom-Based Assessments, short courses, Priority Learning Units and other areas of learning.

Implementation of the Framework for Junior Cycle 2015 is now well underway, with the 4th phase of subjects being rolled out in schools for this academic year. New specifications for Mathematics, Home Economics, History, Music and Geography are all being introduced under the new Junior Cycle for the first time this school year.

Results will be available in schools from this morning and will be available online at www.examinations.ie from 4pm today.
