The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Mr. Shane Ross, TD, and the Minister with responsibility for Sport, Mr. Brendan Griffin, TD, congratulate Ciara Mageean on securing a place at the IAAF World Athletics Championship final.

Ciara has made history by becoming Ireland’s second Irish woman to make a world 1500m final. Ciara is an inspiration to countless young athletes throughout Ireland who aspire to represent their country on the international stage. I wish her the very best in her race tomorrow.
