MOS PHELAN LAUNCHES THE CARLOW FOOD TOURISM DIRECTORY

Ann Phelan TD Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine and with Special Responsibility for Rural Economic Development (implementation of the CEDRA Report) has today launched the Carlow Food Tourism Directory, funded as part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Rural Innovation and Development Fund.
This fund was piloted in 2015 to support innovative and small scale pilot initiatives under the CEDRA report, including a specific scheme operated through the Local Authorities to support Agri-Food related tourism projects. Through this process, each Local Authority was invited to apply for funding under this scheme and 12 of the best projects were chosen for support.
Minister Phelan stated “I am delighted to see that the funding supplied to Carlow County Council is supporting such a wide range of initiatives, which I have no doubt will help to ensure the ongoing development of the County Carlow food and drink sector. It is vital that we do all we can to support our business community as there is huge potential for growth in the food market, both nationally and internationally,”
Minister Phelan congratulated all those involved in the delivery of the project and wished them every success with its rollout.
