New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of the Republic of Lithuania, Malaysia, and the Republic of Estonia presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mrs. Rasa Adomaitienė, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Janina Sadeckiene, and her son, Kasparas, and by Mrs. Audronė Markevičienė, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Syed Sultan Idris, Ambassador of Malaysia, was accompanied by his son, Syed Aizuddin and his daughter, Siti Aizzaty, and by Mr. Azhan Mohamed Yasin, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mrs. Kristi Karelsohn, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia, was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Enda Vuurmann, and her son Otto Alexander, and by Ms. Tiina Jokst, Second Secretary and Deputy Head of Mission.

Mr. Dara Murphy, T.D., Minister of State for European Affairs and Data Protection, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President; Mr. Adrian McDaid, Director, Europe Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Mary Cusack, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Cathal Daly.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the Naval Service, Haulbowline, Cork, under the command of Sub-Lieutenant Maria O’Callaghan.

Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band.
