New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Apostolic Nuncio and the Ambassadors of Montenegro and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Most Reverend Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio, was accompanied by Reverend Juan Antonio Cruz Serrano, First Secretary at the Nunciature.

H.E. Mr. Ljubiša Stanković, Ambassador of Montenegro, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Snezana Stanković.

H.E. Mr. Mazen K. Homoud, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Alia Armouti Homoud.

Mr. Eamon Gilmore, T.D., Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present:   Mr. Adrian O’Neill, Secretary-General to the President; Mr. David Cooney, Secretary-General at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Kathleen White, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, and Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Counsellor at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Claire Mortimer.  

The Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by troops drawn from the 3rd   Infantry Battalion, Defence Forces Training Centre, under the command of Lieutenant Daire Roache.   The Army No. 1 Band was conducted by Captain Declan Whitston.
