New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Belize, the State of Qatar and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Ms. Perla Perdomo, Ambassador of Belize, was accompanied by her family, Ms. Scarleth Ayon and their daughters Perla, Ingrid and Alaine.

H.E. Mr. Yousef Ali Al-Khater, Ambassador of the State of Qatar, was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Maryam Rashid Al-Khater, and by Mr. Mahmoud Ayyad, Head of Protocol at the Embassy.

H.E. Mr. Eldred E. Bethel, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Dawne Bethel, and by Ms. Aklia Ingraham, Vice-Consul at the Embassy.

Mr. Joe McHugh, T.D. Minister of State for the Diaspora and Overseas Development Aid at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President; Mr. Eoin O’Leary, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Mr. Barry Tumelty, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Fergal Reilly.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Co. Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Mark Doyle.

Captain Thomas Kelly conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks.
