New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of Mexico, the Republic of the Sudan, the Republic of Chile and the United Kingdom presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mr. Miguel Malfavón, Ambassador of Mexico, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Hanne Lund Malfavón, and their three sons, Emilio, Daniel and Oliver, and by Mr. Enrique Palos, Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Abdullahi Hamad Ali Alazreg, Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan, was accompanied by Mr. Omer Mohamed Daowd, Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Cristián Streeter, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, was accompanied by his son, Santiago, and by Mr. Renato Gómez, Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Robin Barnett, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, was accompanied by Mr. Neil Holland, Deputy Head of Mission.

Mr. Sean Canney, T.D., Minister of State for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President;
Mr. Niall Burgess, Secretary-General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol; Mr. Joe Brennan, Ms. Mary Cusack and Ms. Claire Buckley, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant David Kelly.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1st Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Co. Kildare, under the command of Lieutenant Liam Feeley.

Captain John Carpenter conducted the Army No. 1 Band, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
