New Ambassadors present Credentials

Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Turkey and Peru presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

H.E. Mr. Lahcen Mahraoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, was accompanied by Mr. Rachid Seghrouchni, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Levent Murat Burhan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, was accompanied by Mrs. Işil Gürler İleri, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission.

H.E. Mr. Claudio De la Puente, Ambassador of Peru, was accompanied by his son, Diego, and by Ms. Silvana Mendoza-Malca, Second Secretary at the Embassy.

Mr. Pat Breen, T.D., Minister of State for Employment and Small Business at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, represented the Government at the ceremony.

The following were also present: Mr. Art O’Leary, Secretary-General to the President; Col. Michael Kiernan, Aide-de-Camp to the President; Mr. Eoin O’Leary, Assistant Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Síle Maguire, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms Claire Buckley, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant David Kelly.

A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 27th Infantry Battalion, Aiken Barracks, Dundalk, Co. Louth, under the command of Lieutenant William Henshaw.
Captain Tom Kelly conducted the Band of the 2nd Brigade, Custume Barracks, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
