The Minister for Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht, Catherine Martin TD, and the Government Chief Whip and the Minister of State for the Gaeltacht and Sport, Jack Chambers TD, announced today that almost €10,000 in funding has been approved for Raidió na Life in order to purchase new computers for the organisation.

Raidió na Life is a special interest community radio station which provides an Irish language radio service in Dublin on 106.4 FM and globally on raidionalife.ie.

The new high specification computers will be used by the station's volunteers on a daily basis for researching, producing, script writing and editing their programmes. In addition to this, the station will also use the computers in their provision of formal training classes in radio skills through Irish.

Minister Martin said: "Raidió na Life's broadcasters provide innovative and imaginative programming to the Irish language community in Dublin. This funding will give them an opportunity to further develop the high standard of programming they broadcast and continue to showcase the variety of Irish culture and music as well as those of other countries."

Minister of State Chambers said: "I am pleased to provide Raidió na Life with this funding. Many national and international broadcasters began their careers in Raidió na Life. The station provides a creative platform and space to those who work here as well as an important service to the Irish language community in Dublin. These resources will facilitate the daily work undertaken by the station's volunteers and will support the learning and training courses which are provided in the station each year."
