One week left to have your say on the Government’s new EU jobs strategy

Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne T.D. has today reminded people that there is only one week left until the end of the public consultation period on the Government’s EU jobs strategy.

The Minister said:

This public consultation was launched on the 8th October 2020. We are seeking submissions from the public to feed into the development of the new strategy which aims to ensure that Ireland maintains a strong presence and influence within the EU institutions.

To date, we have received submissions from a wide variety of people with different experiences in engaging with the jobs process in the EU and its institutions. The “at the coalface” experience is invaluable in developing a strategy of this nature.

The development of a new EU jobs strategy is a key commitment in the Programme for Government, and comes at a time when Ireland faces a “demographic cliff” in its representation among the staff of the EU’s Institutions.

The strategy will look at how the Government can encourage more people to apply for jobs in the EU institutions and provide supports for those who in job competitions.

Submissions should be provided by e-mail to: eujobs@dfa.ie

The closing date for receipt of submissions is 5pm on 5 November 2020.
