The Taoiseach, Micheál Martin TD, will attend the Twenty fifth plenary meeting of the North South Ministerial Council (NSMC) on Friday by video conference.

“I look forward to meeting virtually with First Minister Foster, deputy First Minister O’Neill, and their colleagues in the Northern Ireland Executive.

This plenary meeting is an important opportunity for us to discuss the many important issues of mutual concern, including the response to Covid-19 on the island of Ireland, the implications of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and implementation of the New Decade, New Approach Agreement commitments.

I will also take the opportunity to emphasise the Government’s full support for driving delivery of the North-South infrastructure projects, preserving and strengthening North-South co-operation and to update the Council on the progress of the Shared Island Initiative.”
