Publication of Submissions under National Consultation on the Common Agricultural Policy Post 2020

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed, today published the submissions made by stakeholders in response to his Department’s consultation on the configuration of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2020.

This consultation was launched by Minister Creed in January 2018.  It involved six well attended public meetings held across Ireland and provided an opportunity for citizens to debate the issues and present their views.  Over 1,200 people attended these sessions.  In addition written submissions were invited and these are being published today on the Department’s website.

Referring to the publication of the submissions the Minister said:

This consultation provided an opportunity to citizens to present their views on a policy of critical importance to Ireland.  It is entirely appropriate that I should publish the written submissions received in the week in which the EU Commission is expected to publish its own legislative proposals.

As we enter the negotiations to come, it is important to be armed with the perspective that comes from engaging with a range of people with an active interest in the sector. I want to express my gratitude to those who have played such an important role in my Department’s deliberations by attending the public meetings and making written submissions.
