Reassignment, by appointment, of Specialist Judges of the Circuit Court as Ordinary Judges of the Circuit Court

At its meeting today, the Government nominated the following specialist judges of the Circuit Court for reassignment, by appointment, as ordinary judges of the Circuit Court;

His Hon. Judge Patrick Meghan
Her Hon. Judge Mary O’Malley Costello
Her Hon. Judge Susan Ryan

Three vacancies arose in the Circuit Court following the retirements of Her Hon. Judge Alison Lindsay in July 2016 and His Hon. Judge Patrick McCartan in August 2016 and the elevation of Her Hon. Judge Leonie Reynolds to the High Court in October 2016.

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nominations in accordance with Constitutional procedure.
