Shatter today enacts two ground-breaking Bills

By the end of today’s Dáil session, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence, Mr. Alan Shatter T.D., will have completed the enactment of two ground-breaking pieces of legislation:

· the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Bill and

· the Personal Insolvency Bill

The National Vetting Bureau Bill assures greater protection for children and vulnerable adults by ensuring that those applying for such work are properly vetted and provides for the use of soft information in the vetting process.

The Personal Insolvency Bill represents the most radical and comprehensive reform of our insolvency laws and will be of assistance to thousands of people who are currently in major financial difficulty.
